Located in the heart of Silicon Valley in San Jose, California, Silicon Light Machines (SLM) is dedicated to designing and manufacturing cutting-edge Grating Light Valve® products. Our facility features a state-of-the-art 1500 sq. ft. class 10 clean room for wafer processing, clean labs for device and module testing, and specialized labs for electronics and optics development. As a wholly owned subsidiary of SCREEN Holdings Co. Ltd, Kyoto, Japan, we are committed to excellence in everything we do.

Our patented Grating Light Valve (GLV®) technology allows us to build optical micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) on silicon semiconductor wafers. With high-speed (up to 500 kHz) and analog (10 bit) spatial light modulators featuring 1088 channels, our GLV devices are unparalleled in their precision and versatility. At SLM, we develop and market a wide range of optical imaging devices for various applications, including high-end computer-to-print systems and high-speed maskless lithography.

Recently, we have expanded our capabilities to include 2D light valve technology with the introduction of the Planar Light Valve (PLV™). This innovative technology enables us to modulate laser pulse frequency from continuous wave (CW) to ultrashort femtosecond pulses. With its exceptional power and throughput, the PLV offers exciting new possibilities for high-precision laser processing applications, including additive manufacturing, micromachining, surface texturing, and laser marking.
